En Cáceres, ese lugar es la Plaza Mayor.
Abierta, luminosa y llena de vida, actúa como el umbral entre la ciudad contemporánea y el recinto amurallado que ha permanecido casi intacto durante siglos. Desde aquí parten todas las calles, pero también todas las miradas: hacia las torres, las murallas y el Arco de la Estrella, que invita a cruzar hacia otro tiempo.

Open, bright and full of life, it forms the threshold between the modern city and the medieval walled quarter that has remained almost unchanged for centuries. From here, every street begins, but so do the first glimpses of towers, walls and the Star Arch, inviting visitors to step into another era.
Before wandering through the stone streets, it is worth pausing here and watching the city breathe.

Después de recorrer murallas, callejones y palacios, regresé de nuevo a la Plaza Mayor.
Comprendí entonces que nunca había sido un simple punto de partida. Era el lugar donde la ciudad se abre al viajero antes de invitarlo a cruzar sus puertas.
Quizá por eso resulta tan fácil volver una y otra vez a este espacio.
Porque algunas plazas se recuerdan por su arquitectura.
Otras, como esta, se recuerdan porque marcan el instante en el que empieza el viaje.
After wandering through walls, alleys and ancient palaces, I found myself back in the Plaza Mayor.
Only then did I realise it had never been just a starting point. It was the place where the city first welcomed me before inviting me beyond its gates.
Perhaps that’s why it is so easy to return here.
Some squares are remembered for their architecture.
Others, like this one, are remembered because they mark the moment when the journey truly begins.
